Acting

Corinne Chateau has appeared in feature films, television, on and off-Broadway, and regional theater.  She played Marianne in Moliere’s “The Miser” at the Studio Arena Studio in Buffalo. For two years she was a series regular on the soap opera Love of Life. She played opposite Anne Bancroft in the Broadway production of “Golda” by William Gibson. She was also in the Broadway production of “West Side Waltz” starring Katherine Hepburn. She played Hermia in Ellen Burstyn’s production of “Midsummer Night’s Dream.”  She was cast in the role of Electra in the play “The Chain” written and directed by Elia Kazan, and produced at the Hartman Theater in Connecticut.  Corinne co-starred opposite Shelly Winters in the film “Witchfire.”  She had a featured role in the film “The Tenement.” She played the lead female role in the production of Rashomon at The Actors Studio, directed by Zen Hirano.

Corinne began her training in Paris at the L’ecole D’acteur.  While attending Barnard College, she was accepted for a summer intensive at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Returning to the United States, Corinne continued her passion for acting studying with Richard Bell at Columbia University School of the Arts. From there she went on to study with Stella Adler and Harold Clurman in the two-year conservatory program. Corinne soon auditioned and was accepted as a lifetime member at The Ensemble Studio Theatre. That same year, after passing her final audition and becoming a lifetime member of the Actors Studio, she began to study with Lee Strasberg in his private classes at the Lee Strasberg Institute.

Corinne was in the Graduate Film program at NYU, where she directed three short films, and then moved on to the Graduate Film program at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. As a directing fellow at AFI, Corinne wrote and directed three thirty-minute films.

She has taught acting at the Rudolf Steiner School, in the Graduate Film Program at Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and in the Actors Studio MFA program at The New School and Pace University. She is also a private acting coach.

She authored the book, The Road to Cali:  A Journey to Adoption, and developed and performed a one-woman show, Abandoned, based upon her book. She has written a full-length play, The Sun Shines East, which was initially developed at the Actors Studio and then received an Equity Showcase production at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City.

Corinne is currently working on her documentary film, Safer in Silence, with Polish Academy Award-winning editor, Milenia Fiedler. Containing footage she shot in Brazil, Poland, France, Portugal, and the U.S, the documentary concerns Corinne’s search for the truth of her family’s hidden past, and their escape from Poland in the years before and during World War II.
